Our History

Christopher J. Stawski, Attorney at Law, Owner

Christopher J. Stawski is well known throughout the Milwaukee community. He was born at SInai Samaritan Hospital, is 100% Polish, and grew up in the Polish neighborhoods on Milwaukee's South Side. Chris attended UW-Milwaukee and graduated in 1982 with a degree in Psychology. He then attended Marquette University Law School and graduated in 1986. In 1987, he and Boyd McGranaghan started McGranaghan & Stawski.

After graduating from law school, Chris became heavily involved in community and volunteer work. He has served on the boards of a number of community and non-profit organizations and served as president of many of those organizations. Some of the boards that Chris has served on over the years include the following organizations: Alzheimer’s Association of Southeastern Wisconsin, St. Francis Community Development Authority, St. Francis Fire and Police Commission, Wisconsin State Bar Board of Governors, Our Space, Milwaukee Young Lawyers Association, American Bar Association-Young Lawyers Division, American Bar Association-GP Solo Division, Wisconsin Association for Justice Board of Trustees, City of Franklin Fourth of July Committee, Cliffs Resort Vacation Owners Association, The Polish Heritage Alliance and many more.

In his spare time, Chris is a volunteer DJ at radio station WMSE and hosts a weekly radio show called “Dr. Sushi’s Free Jazz BBQ”. He enjoys going to concerts, sporting events, and running along the lake. He loves spending time with his adult daughter, Elizabeth, who currently resides in the Twin Cities and works at a nationwide business and marketing firm. She used her skills in that field to create this website for him (hi dad!).

Boyd M. McGranaghan, (1954-1990) Attorney at Law

Originally from Philadelphia, Boyd M. McGranaghan moved to Milwaukee to attend Marquette University in 1972. After obtaining a bachelor's degree in political science in 1976, he graduated from Marquette University Law School in 1979. He taught business law at Milwaukee Area Technical College and he was on the boards of directors of the West End Community Association, Polish Fest, and the Cream City Business Association. He was also a member of the Milwaukee and Wisconsin State Bar Associations, the Milwaukee Young Lawyers Association, the Wisconsin Academy of Trial Lawyers, and Future Milwaukee. Outside of work, Boyd was passionately involved in the Milwaukee theater scene including Sunset Players and Bay View Players. In early 1990, Boyd passed away due to complications of pneumonia. Chris has kept the McGranaghan name as tribute to his late business partner and dear friend.
